Re: BD leopoldi's
Thanks, they are huge, 13+ cm (5+ inch). Pregnancy took a long while, my guess is 130 days!

Re: BD leopoldi's
Today 3 black diamond x leopoldi pups were born again. I'll post a picture later this day
One of them:
Development of this pup:
BDxleo patterns can differ a lot, big spot, eclips, letter, thousand island, etc. Personally I like all of them, as long as the quality is amazing. By selecting the right parents it is possible to influence this to a certain degree.
Looking at black diamond and BDxleo pups I noticed that BDxleo has a less defined pattern just after birth. BDxleo also seems to change more during the first few months.
Below are some pictures as an example. You can see the pattern when this particular pup was just born in the breeding facility. The pattern is more vague compared to pure BD pups. The next two pictures show the same pup after three months and swimming happily in the tank of a customer.

Re: BD leopoldi's
Forgot to mention here. May, 12th 2011 three healthy pure black diamond pups were born Here's a picture of one of them just after birth. They are developing fantasticly
May, 11th 2011 six BDxleo pups were born also (4 females and 2 males).
Development of this pup:
F1 black diamond pups show their potential early in their live. The spots are clearly defined, even when they are just a few hours old. Still it is interesting to see how they develop. As the pictures below show, the whiteness of the spots is fantastic even at a young age, if the right breeding animals are chosen. All specimens in te breeding facility develop larger spots as the ray grows larger. They basically become more amazing by the day
The stingray below has a BD eclipse mother, but doesn't show this trade when it is born. It seems that stingrays with the more beautiful thick eclipse rings, develop this trade later in their life. Very young BD have a light grey (almost blueish) base color the first weeks after they are born. As the pics show, the edge spotting is countless.
The pups are even better then I dreamt of. The two batches of BD are very different, but both fantastic. Currently three females a highly pregnant again. Can't wait to see the new pups. Here a black diamond pup just after it was born and now after ~3 months:
